Some area's such as wilderness area's require permits for day hiking and camping some areas have no requirements, like BLM lands, at all other then a time limit. It just depends on where your going. I'll give you a couple of links to get you started. Hunting and fishing licenses are obtained at sporting good stores. A hunting license requires a hunter safety course first to obtain the license. That info is on the Ca. DFG site http://www.fs.fed.us/passespermits/ http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en.html http://www.parks.ca.gov/ http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/ |

You park and camp where you please. Just contact the District Office first to learn the rules in-effect when you'll be there. Rules change from season to season just as nature will. You'll want to know what bridges are still safe, where the road gates are, and if bears are smashing their way into parked vehicles in certain areas because of an open bag of corn chips or something. |

To get a campfire permit you must be 18 and have a valid I.D. To get a hunting license you have to complete a hunters safety course and I'm not sure what the age requirement is, used to be 12. A fishing license requires a valid I.D. and I believe that's all. Once you decide where you want to go then you can check on the rules for that area. Dispersed camping is allowed in the National Forests and on B.L.M. land. in some areas. Every area is different! Always check with the local agency responsible for the area you are entering. |
