I known the ipad has a few flaws to people. But also we have to remember this is the first one and I do believe there will be more. They go to new limits and they keep the tradition with the names as well. Now I people keep saying that women do not like the name. Now when I do think of a pad there is a writing pad. Not a pad for the time of the month, come let's be real. Many peole may not like the name and so what. I will try one out when it come to store next month and see what it is all about. The iphone , ipod touch and the ipod has done really good. They are doing what any other business is doing and that trying new things. They will have many people saying what they did wrong and what they could have done better. I want to also say they will also have a lot of people giving them the due respect for trying. Lets all see where this go before we judge.

too expensive and also this ipad thingie is working on the iphone system... couldn't they install some real operating system on it.
oh and it is not looking as sexy as an apple electronic should.

They have had tablet pc's for years and the Ipad is just another one just using apple OS. So it is nothing new at all. all has happen apple has marketed them selves for it. The technology they are using is old and it is under powered. it is over priced as well. And the ipod is just an over priced mp4/3 player. you can buy cheaper ones with better quality and less risk of cyber attacks. Apple is just a lead company until they loose popularity.

It should have been called iFail.
It doesn't do anything differently than the other apple products.
It's basically a large version of an iPod touch.
Why didn't they call it the iTablet or iTab?
It's too big to carry around with you as an ipod.
It's not a full computer when you're at home.
It's not a phone or a camera.
I'm just going to stick with my MacBook and my iPhone. The iPad wouldn't do anything helpful that they can't already do.

I think it's garbage. The fundametal flaws will not be fixed by Apple. One of the biggest flaws is that it runs a proprietary OS, which means you can only use iTunes apps on it. As such, it becomes practically worthless for people who need a laptop. Battery life and the screen might improve over time, but it probably won't ever have a connect for flash drives or memory card readers.

Nomenclature doesn't really matter. Sure, the name iPad isn't very good. It sounds like a feminine hygene product and is too easily confused with an iPod. But a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. However, garbage, by any other name, is still garbage.

Also, lets get one thing perfectly clear: Apple does not make new products. They simply take existing ideas and try to market in a way that it would sell. The iPod was nothing new. There had been MP3 players LONG before that. Same for the iTouch, and the Macbook, and the iMac, etc.

All Apple had to do was take a Macbook, put a touchscreen on it, and call it a tablet PC. That would've been freaking awesome! But instead Apple tried to go a different route. They tried to do too many things with the iPad (like meet a $500 price point) and as a result the product is a half-baked mismatch of ideas.

We've already seen the product. There is no more lets see where this goes... the deed is done.
