Default Am I good or bad or average for a highschool artist?

Im a 16 year old junior at a public highschool. I would like to consider art as an option when I'm older. I was thinking of going to an in-state university then switch to a school in New York City and major in either graphic design or costume design (thoug i have no costume sketches here.) I'm actually really nervous that I'm not good enough. Thanks for your opinions. And also leave some critique, advice and reflections as well!

I have not taken any art classes other then general art studio in elementary and middle school, and a prerequisite general art in highschool. Luckily, I am taking drawing class and painting class this year!

I'm not trying to grab attention but wanting to know how far I am with my art at my age.

Thank you and happy holidays!

Also, whats a good school for graphic and costume design? I live in Iowa, and I believe ISU is good for both, but I'm a bit skeptic about going there because my brother hates it (he just graduated though) my teacher tells me I'd hate it. I suppose that its very conservative, and I want the whole college party hippie experience lol.

Thank you again.

Just below average, considering you want to do art as an occupation.

You're pretty good! If those are original peices then I can see you have a good creative flare, sense of space, flow and attention to detail. Maybe the final quality of it could be improved for some but that's the easier part.

I think you can go far if you wanted it.. don't let anyone discourage you from doing what you want. You've got alot of potential.

I've seen most of those images previously, and too long ago for a person currently in high school to have done them.

I agree with Angelina,, and your drawings now looked a lot like my sisters and then she took art this year in high school and now her drawings are much much better than they were to begin with,, and for the school selection,, I have no idea I'm all the way in alabama lol

you are good at details and designs like the black and white ones you did but you are ok at drawing people. I say keep on working on people and you will be really good! Answer mine?

It's hard for me to give an honest answer because you're sixteen and I'm seventeen, so I'm naturally a little biased. However, for your age I think you're talented. You have wiggle room for improvement, and though you probably won't survive as an artist for a career [practically no one does], art is always possible outside the working world! Good luck with your dream as an artist, you've got the makings of greatness and will achieve much if you keep trying!

PS Have any comments about my own art? I am going to art school and am interested to hear what people think! http://pipa.jp/tegaki/VBlogList.jsp?ID=6403

You have potential. People don't go to school if they don't need help remember that!

I currently attend savannah college of art and design and I love it. You should look into it - they have an excellent graphic design program. They require all students take all foundation art classes so that everyone can start their major on the same level (basically). I'm not a super fantastic drawer either, but if your concepts and design are good, then the teachers can work with you!
Don't feel intimidated! I was extremely intimidated, but I realized a lot of other people felt the same way! Of course you're going to have the people who think they're better than everyone and don't need to listen to tteachers advice, but those are the people who are never going to grow and get anywhere with their major.

I hope I helped a little bit and good luck in your college search!
